Everything we changed
We are rebuilding Online Gallery in the open. Below is what shipped, newest first, written for you rather than for developers. Missing something you need? Tell us — a fair number of the lines below started as someone’s e-mail.
v2.215 August 2026
For the people who run auctions for a living
- NewCopy a whole auction for next time: the lots, the settings, your logo and your story come along. The dates are left empty on purpose — last year’s dates are how an evening opens on the wrong day.
- NewExport your results and your bidders as a spreadsheet, ready for the books or to send on to a client.
- NewYour own colour and typeface on the big screen, and our name off it entirely — for anyone standing in front of someone else’s guests.
- NewColleagues on one account. An auction should never hang on one login: somebody falls ill on the day itself and another person has to be able to run the evening.
- NewOne overview across every evening you have run: how many, how many lots sold, and what it raised in total.
v2.205 August 2026
The evening, from the doors opening to the first lot
- NewThe beamer now has a run of show: your story, then a screen where everyone joins in, then a countdown that tells the room it is starting — and then the auction. You click through it from your phone.
- NewOne big button to put the next lot on the block, so you are not hunting through a list while a room watches you.
- NewScan a code to open the auctioneer’s screen on your phone. You will be standing in front of the room, not sitting behind a laptop.
- BetterBidders can say which business or club they are bidding for, and that appears beside their name on the big screen — usually the whole reason a business bids.
- BetterA lot without a photo now shows a proper placeholder instead of an empty grey box.
- BetterThe auctioneer runs the whole evening with two arrows: back and next, through the slides and then lot by lot. One line always says what the room is looking at, and you can peek at the beamer from your own phone.
- FixedLots that had not come up yet were listed as “not sold” and the screen said the evening was over. They now sit under Up next, where they belong.
- BetterPractising is now only about the screen: click through the whole evening, but nobody can bid while you do. No pretend bids to tidy up afterwards, and no doubt later about what really happened.
- BetterThe arrows keep working while a lot is on the block: › sells it and puts the next one up, ‹ reopens the one before if you hammered too soon.
- NewStart over: everything back to how it was before anyone touched it. Your lots, settings and printed codes stay, so the codes keep working and you never reprint.
- BetterThe auctioneer’s screen is now simply your whole evening in one list: the opening screens, then every lot, then the closing ones. Tap a card and the big screen goes there. The card with the thick purple border is what the room is looking at.
- NewTwo closing screens: the result — the total, whether the target was beaten and the highest lots — and then a thank you with your cause on it.
- FixedThe big screen followed you within a second instead of after a pause. It was listening for changes on a channel that was never switched on, so it had been falling back on checking every few seconds.
- FixedA cent of VAT rounding turned €49,00 into €49,01 at checkout.
- FixedYou could not type a bid from the room: the whole card was being thrown away and rebuilt four times a second, so the field was gone before you could reach it. That is also why the buttons flickered under your mouse.
- NewA proper guide: the whole evening in the order it happens — four weeks ahead, the day itself, during the auction, and the morning after.
- BetterThe big screen opens as its own window, so you drag it straight onto the beamer and your own window stays put.
- NewTwo yearly plans beside paying per auction: Pro at €299 for twelve auctions — one a month — and Studio at €899 for fifty, for people who run auctions for other people. Need more? Add one for €25. One evening a year? Keep paying per auction; we say so on the page.
- FixedOn a smaller screen the search box in the menu was squeezed into a little circle.
v2.195 August 2026
The big screen, sorted out
- NewA start-of-evening screen: one enormous code, and in plain words where a guest’s name and e-mail end up. Everyone is ready before the first lot instead of during it.
- NewChoose a light or a dark big screen. Dark for a room with the lights down; light for a hall with the strip lights on, because a beamer cannot make black — only less light.
- FixedThe code on the screen now takes you straight to the lot on the block instead of the list of everything.
- FixedA lot that had not come up yet said “bidding has closed”. It now says it has not started.
- FixedA clear way out of the rehearsal: one button to practise again, one to step out for good.
- Better“Register to bid” is now “Place a bid” — two fields, and it says who sees them and when they are deleted.
- NewBidders can come in with Google or Apple: two clicks and they are bidding, without going to find an e-mail. Those addresses are already verified, so we skip the confirmation link.
v2.185 August 2026
Sold something? Your buyer hears it from you without you typing a word
- NewNote a sale in your dashboard and your buyer gets their own page to follow. Paste the tracking number and they hear it is on its way — that is three e-mails you never have to write.
- NewSold one from an edition? Pick which size and one comes off the shelf. The rest stays for sale, and only when the last one goes does the work move to sold.
- NewThree ways to run an auction now: over a few days, or one evening lot by lot with a countdown, or one evening lot by lot until the room goes quiet and you drop the hammer.
- NewSomebody in the room without a phone can still bid — you take their bid from your own screen and it counts like any other. The screen shows it came from the room.
- BetterPhotos and logos are uploaded now instead of asking you for a web address. Choose the file and it is on there.
- NewThe auction link you send round stands on its own: your logo, your name, no menu of ours. One quiet line at the bottom says which tool built it.
v2.175 August 2026
Lots that ask the right questions
- NewSay what kind of thing a lot is — artwork, clothing, an outing, a voucher, food — and you get exactly the questions that matter for it. A signed shirt asks for the size, a trip asks how many people and until when it is valid.
- BetterThose answers appear on the lot page and on the printed card, so the room stops asking the auctioneer.
- NewTick off who has paid and who has collected, straight from your phone at the door.
- FixedThe flag in the menu is the language flag now, drawn by us instead of fetched from elsewhere — no more broken image.
v2.165 August 2026
Winners pay the right amount without you making forty links
- NewEvery winner gets their own payment page with exactly what they owe already filled in — including everything they won across several lots. You choose once how you want to be paid.
- NewBank transfer works with a code they scan in their banking app: your account, the amount and a reference all filled in. Costs nothing and nobody needs an account anywhere.
- NewWith PayPal the amount goes straight into the link, so it is one tap for them.
v2.155 August 2026
Set up an auction step by step, and practise until the day itself
- NewA four-question guide to set up an auction. You can fill in the first steps without an account — we only ask for an e-mail when there is something to save.
- NewPractise as much as you like until the day of the auction: real lots, real screen, real codes, with a banner saying it is practice. One click wipes the practice bids and you start clean.
- NewPay once, when you are happy. It works from the moment you open the bidding until a week after the last lot, and then closes — no subscription.
- BetterWords like “euro” now follow the currency you picked, everywhere on the site.
- FixedLinks that jump to a section on a page no longer land underneath the menu.
v2.145 August 2026
A live auctioneer, and a welcome screen for your cause
- NewRun the evening yourself: put one lot on the block at a time from your phone. Every bid restarts the count, and when the room goes quiet you drop the hammer.
- NewThe big screen can open on your logo, the story behind your cause and a target that fills up as the evening goes. Switch between that and the auction from the same phone.
- NewMessages can be archived or deleted — archived ones stay findable.
- BetterMy account is organised in steps instead of one long column, with your referral link and what it has earned you in there too.
- BetterDeleting your account now explains what you actually lose — every link to your work, and years of being findable — and offers the free plan first.
- FixedMoving to a cheaper plan no longer charges you again. You keep what you have until the end of the period you paid for.
v2.135 August 2026
Run your own auction
- NewAuctions, for a club, a company or a good cause — and the lots do not have to be art. Put the things on a table with a printed code beside each one and everyone bids from their phone.
- NewA big screen for the room: current lot, current bid, the bids ticking in, and a countdown that takes over the screen in the last minute.
- NewSet a maximum and we bid for you, one step at a time. A bid in the last seconds extends the lot, so the highest bid wins rather than the fastest finger.
- NewPrintable cards and labels with a QR code, the lot number, the title and the starting bid.
- NewWinners get an e-mail with what they owe and the organiser’s own payment link. We never touch the money.
v2.125 August 2026
Search that understands what you mean
- BetterSearch “big eye” and you now find the ferris wheel. We widen your words to related ones and tell you which — no more empty results because you used a different word than the artist did.
- BetterEvery artwork is now tagged with the objects in it — a car, a windmill, a church — as well as its style, theme and colours. So you can search for what you see, not just what it is called.
- BetterYour dashboard opens on your work and your messages instead of a checklist. The checklist stays until you finish it, then makes way.
v2.115 August 2026
Shipping, without looking anything up
- NewTell us how a work travels — rolled in a tube, in a box, in a crate — and we work out what shipping costs. No rate tables to fill in.
- NewBuyers see a real amount for their own country, right under the price. Almost nobody else does this.
- BetterZones are relative to you now: an artist in Portland sees “Within the United States”, not “outside the EU”.
- NewA guide in the Academy on packing, what carriers really charge, and what to do when your estimate turns out wrong.
- NewEvery payment now produces an invoice you can download, grouped by year.
v2.105 August 2026
My account, VAT and a price check
- NewMy account now holds your address and business details. Registered elsewhere in the EU? Enter your VAT number, we check it against the EU database, and you pay 0% — €14,99 becomes €12,39.
- NewInvoices can go to a different address than the one you sign in with — handy if your bookkeeper wants them.
- NewYou can change the e-mail address you sign in with. The old one keeps working until you confirm the new one.
- BetterHovering an icon now shows what it does straight away, instead of after a second of waiting.
- BetterThe status of an artwork is a small pill with a coloured dot instead of a grey bar across the card.
v2.95 August 2026
Your artworks in the order you want them
- NewDrag your artworks into the order you want, or nudge them with the arrows. The order you set here is the order visitors see — on your profile and on your own website.
- BetterWhile you edit an artwork, the work itself now sits large beside the fields instead of leaving the page half empty.
- BetterA clear way back to your overview from the edit screen.
- BetterConfirmation questions now look like the rest of the site, and tell you what actually happens before you agree to it.
- NewThis page. Every release from here on gets written down.
v2.84 August 2026
Your account, your plan, your referrals
- NewMy account: change your plan, update your payment method, and cancel without writing us an e-mail.
- NewBring in someone on Premium and your own domain is free for another year. Your referral link and what it has earned you are in your dashboard.
- NewLog in with a password, reset it when you forget it, and change it while you are logged in.
- NewA Why Online Gallery page that explains, with pictures, what you get and what it costs you elsewhere.
- BetterIf a payment fails you now hear about it in time, with a clear picture of what happens to your artworks if it stays unpaid.
- FixedE-mail on your own domain is Premium only — Plus connects a domain that lives elsewhere, so we cannot host mail for it.
v2.74 August 2026
A mailing list that belongs to you
- NewA sign-up block for your own website, a confirmation mail, and a subscriber list in your dashboard. The list is yours — export it whenever you like.
- NewWrite your mailing with blocks: headings, text, images at three widths, buttons. What you see is what lands in the inbox.
- NewYour name is the sender and replies come straight back to you.
- NewIncluded from Plus, with a monthly number of sends. Need more in a busy month? Buy a bundle of extra sends.
v2.63 August 2026
Museums, galleries and fairs to visit
- NewVisit: a map with over 900 museums, galleries and art fairs, filtered by what you are in the mood for.
- NewExhibitions with real press photos, dates and ticket links — never cropped, because museums do not allow that.
- BetterYour work sits between the exhibitions people already come here to browse.
- FixedTicket links that pointed at the wrong page have been checked and corrected.
v2.52 August 2026
See it hanging before you decide
- NewView in room: your work on a wall at its real size, on any device.
- NewOn an iPhone or iPad, augmented reality places the actual work in the actual room. No app needed.
- NewShare an artwork to Instagram, Facebook, X or LinkedIn with a caption written for you.
- NewWorkshops on your own site: dates, spots, sign-ups and payment links.
v2.01 August 2026
Online Gallery, rebuilt
- NewA new Online Gallery, built from the ground up: faster, mobile first, and yours.
- NewYour own website in thirty designs, on your own domain, kept in sync with your profile automatically.
- New0% commission on every plan. Buyers pay you directly.
- NewOG Academy: twenty-five guides on pricing, photographing and approaching a gallery.
- BetterContact form that filters out the printing offers and SEO pitches before they reach you.
Still to come
E-mail on your own domain, an auction tool you can run yourself, and augmented reality on Android as well as iPhone. The move from the old Online Gallery happens in September — nothing you have made goes missing.
